I have been through Narita airport I do not know how many times during travels to Hong Kong, Korea, China, and Taiwan. I have also passed through the Osaka airport a number of times. For many years, I used to joke that Japan was a country that I might never get to see from the ground outside of Narita.

In 2004, I visited Tokyo and Kyoto. In 2005, I spent two days in Sendai for the Japan SIAM meeting. In 2006, I visited Sapporo (and environs) and Tokyo.

In 1999, my first time through Japan, I took pictures during my flight from Hong Kong to Narita. I was actually flying from Finland to Beijing, but had to stay over in Hong Kong and then fly around China to fit the type of plane ticket I had

Look for Mt. Fuji in the middle. Since it was August, there was no snow on its peak.

Narita is very close to the Pacific Ocean. It is a hour train ride to Tokyo, in another prefecture.
