Homework 1

Due January 17th in class.  Do this assignment by yourself.  No sharing or groups allowed.

1. Find the Top 500 computer list.  Of the Top 500, how many are US government labs?  How far down the list is academic site from any country (and what is it)?

2. Look at Netlib and see there is any software of interest to you on NA-NET.  List it.

3. Search the Department of Energy's web sites for Grand Challenge Problems.  What do you find?

4. Search through a few corporate sites, such as BMW, Boeing, Toyota, or United Technology.  See if you can find computational science links or success stories.

5. Find at least one site on another continent that is computationally science oriented.
