Feel free to copy anything you like from the subdirectories here. Always get the README.mgnet file in a directory. It will tell you how to unpack files, what they contain, and any conditions for use. The file INDEX.mgnet in this directory will explain what is in the entire repository. There is a mailing list for multigrid issues. To get on the mailing list, send electronic mail to mgnet-requests@cs.yale.edu with your name and Internet (preferably) or Bitnet address included. Please indicate if you are interested in the multigrd solver bakeoff and want to get messages for that daily. Unless you are really interested, please wait until the messages make the weekly digests. To post a message to the mgnet digest, send mail to mgnet@cs.yale.edu and I will put it in the next issue. Issues will typically be sent over weekends, so getting a message in by Thursday evening is a big help to me. To see what is stored here, ftp casper.cs.yale.edu cd mgnet dir Then look in the README.mgnet and INDEX.mgnet files. You can change directory to whatever you like. Software packages have their own directories as does old mail. Unless stated otherwise, everything in this repository is "use at your own risk"; there are no warantees implied or expressed, not even that anything does what it claims to do or will even install on anything. You are completely on your own in case of difficulties. I have provided an author name and a way to contact them in the README.mgnet files, but I do not guarantee that this will work, either. If you plan to put this software on a machine somplace that by law imposes warranties or liabilities on the author or distributor, then you are not welcome to any software from mgnet unless the package explicitly agrees to this. I am sorry to impose this restriction, but this is free software. To save space, most things here will have been tar'ed and compress'ed (standard UNIX utilities). You will need uncompress and tar to unpack these packages. Some packages may be in a shell archive format before being compress'ed. In this case, you will not need tar, but you will need the standard sh program on UNIX. The rule of thumb will be, I must be able to unpack a submission on my workstation here before I will store it in the mgnet area. To place something here, either mail it to me (but not before contacting me first) or you can deposit it here at Yale: ftp casper.cs.yale.edu cd mgnet/incoming put whatever Then send mail to mgnet-requests@cs.yale.edu explaining what you just did. An even better approach is to send mail there first explaining what you intend to do, wait until I offer my two bits, and then transfer your package to the incoming area. The latter approach guarantees that I will unload your contribution in a more timely fashion. No software will be accepted if it comes with a collection of weird user requirements or conditions. An example of this is if you want to require users to send money after they have used it for more than 15 minutes. I prefer public domain items, but I will accept copyrighted material as long as nobody will get sued. Suggestions are always welcome. If you are interested in shadowing this repository, please send me electronic mail.
